Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Responsible for day to day maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) carpentry, painting, forklifts, and conveyors at the Savage Distribution Center. Maintains the building and grounds to ensure a professional looking appearance. Leads the daily activity work activity of maintenance so that quality, output, and benchmark standards are maintained to ensure DC Team members are operating in a safe and efficient manner. Regularly reviews projects and results with Operations Manager.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Develops maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Assist with department budget estimates as it relates to maintenance and cost of specific repair projects
  • Assists in repair and replacement of racking throughout the facility.
  • Contracts with and supervises all outside service contractors related to Maintenance.
  • Maintain parts inventory to adequately respond to equipment failures.
  • Assists Savage DC Leadership with IWarehouse forklift error messages so that proper action can be taken
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing and carpentry projects
  • Completes regularly scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on various equipment within the Distribution Center.
  • Assists in or performs weekly churn test on the fire sprinkler system; completes regular testing, maintenance, and upkeep of all fire exit doors, fire door alarms, and exit maps. Document findings and corrective action taken. Report monthly results to Ops Manager.
  • Operates equipment such as forklift, scissor-lift & stock picker as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assists forklift vendor mechanics with maintenance tasks as required.
  • Participates in and provides primary maintenance support to the facility Safety Committee.
  • Participates in all near miss incident investigations.
  • Supports facility-wide housekeeping, pallet management and metal scrapping programs.
  • Maintains work areas in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Works safely and complies with all established safety rules and practices.
  • Keeps Ops Manager informed of job-related problems and other information related to work activity. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of general maintenance experience in a Distribution environment.
  • Knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for Distribution Equipment.
  • Experienced in the operation of hand tools and power tools; including, but not limited to drill, hammer drill, grinder, band saw, jig saw and rotary saw.
  • Experienced in the operation of an acetylene torch.
  • Ability to become licensed to operate all required equipment.
  • Ability to work a schedule based on the understanding of responsibilities and priorities.
  • Ability to accurately read and match numbers.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and communicate to personnel.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work in a manner that promotes a safe working environment. Mission Zero.
  • Ability to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or similar software

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility during required length of the shift.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work at elevated heights up to 30 feet.
  • Frequently required bend, stoop, push and pull objects.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities include depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to talk and hear.
  • Ability to lift up to 70-100 pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Ability to work at all levels within and outside of the facility in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate forklift, motorized pallet jack or other power equipment as necessary.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Protective hand wear required (gloves issued for individual assignment)
  • Welding gloves and masks.
  • Safety Glasses/Face Shield
