Northern Tool + Equipment is seeking a talented Business Development Specialist to effectively develop both existing Customer Prospects (“Prospects”) and/or New Leads (“Leads”) on an inside/outside sales basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively and efficiently uses phone and email contact to engage and develop existing Customer Prospects and/or New Leads.
- Demonstrates a proficiency in building professional rapport with a diverse range of roles including Buyers, Purchasing Managers, Service Personnel, C-Level Executives, etc. within the organizations of Prospects/Leads.
- Completes thorough profile and analysis on each Prospect/Lead, using probing discovery questions to gain an in-depth knowledge of the organization, Total Addressable Market, and specific business needs.
- Maintains a proactive, consultative sales focus with each Prospect/Lead, consistently soliciting requests for quotes, offering relevant products and solutions, and ultimately growing sales revenue within the organization.
- Accurately identifies and qualifies Prospects/Leads eligible for promotion to Managed Account status based on the established customer profile criteria.
- Consistently gathers and records all relevant Prospect/Lead information including notes on sales calls, contact information of relevant persons, business profile and analysis data in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for future reference.
- Provides the highest level of customer service and support to ensure our customers experience an Outstanding Northern Experience.
What you will bring to the table:
- High school education or equivalent required, college coursework or related marketing training preferred.
- 1+ years of related sales or customer service experience.
- Must be able to work Central Time hours.
- Strong customer service and selling skills including listening, empathizing, ability to identify customer needs, and determining appropriate solutions.
- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize to meet deadlines and established goals.
- Results oriented to close sales and achieve established goals.
- Superior problem analysis & decision-making skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure to complete projects with minimal instructions under tight time constraints.
- Ability to embrace change, multiple demands, shifting priorities, and readily accept new alternative sales approaches.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of Company personnel and others.
- Thorough knowledge of related computer software packages including Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of light industrial products, manufacturing, logistics services, skilled trades, hydraulics, or other core customer business in the tool and equipment space is preferred.
