PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To coordinate and manage all retail store operations in assigned geographic areas in a manner which will achieve established Company goals and objectives.
This position is based out of our Southwest 3 district which can be based out of Lubbock or Midland TX. Sote locations are in west Texas and Oklahoma. Candidate must be based in market.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
1. Leads a team of assigned stores in achieving sales and profit goals by fostering within their assigned region a strong focus on sales growth as the #1 priority. Measures and evaluates gross sales and quality of sales, motivates store staff to exceed annual goals and demonstrates creativity in sales generation.
2. Represents the Company as a spokesperson for retail locations and the Company’s customers within the Corporate environment to ensure the customer is considered in Corporate decisions. Participates in establishing meaningful goals and policies pertaining to store operations and develops effective plans and programs to attain goals. Communicates and implements approved plans while ensuring understanding, involvement and commitment of store managers.
3. Ensures that assigned areas are sufficiently staffed with qualified and talented employees to meet work requirements and stay within budgeted payroll matrix guidelines by directly hiring all store managers. Coordinates with Regional Training Managers to ensure Managers and Assistant Managers complete all management training and necessary follow-up takes place. Interviews and approves all assistant managers before hire, maintains an adequate number of assistant managers to promote when necessary by coordinating training as needed. Ensures all pre-hire procedures are consistently followed and monitors stores to ensure all positions are filled or in the process of recruiting replacements.
4. Ensures store personnel is properly trained in all established Company training programs relating to store operational procedures and policies that relate to employee relations to project a business-like professional image and provide a high level of customer satisfaction.
5. Creates and presents monthly and yearly performance assessments for all store managers and approves performance assessments for assistant managers developed by store managers to ensure individual employee improvement and growth.
6. Ensures management teams are knowledgeable about all Company policies and procedures, monitors to ensure they are enforced at all times, supports store management on any corrective discipline that arise from improper controls and handles employee relations problems as appropriate.
7. Ensures store management complies to all Company merchandising standards, implements Plan-o-gram (POG) and line review changes, monitors price changes for implementation, works with merchants to ensure the supply of product is acceptable in all retail locations, shops competition and reviews industry trends for necessary changes.
8. Works with the Retail Marketing department to fine tune advertising by location by providing feedback on the effectiveness of all advertising and supporting any Company wide branding efforts as necessary throughout the store locations.
9. Monitors inventory management by working with the Merchandising department on any stock issues that negatively impact sales or profits and supervises store management in appropriate inventory management analysis and communication.
10. Monitors compliance of all loss prevention and shrink control policies and procedures to protect Company assets by monitoring store cash handling practices on a regular basis, enforces strict adherence by performing audits for compliance and presenting disciplinary actions where necessary and actively participating in investigations as appropriate.
11. Monitors compliance of stores to expense and sales budgets and takes appropriate action to correct deviations as needed.
12. Attends all scheduled regional meetings and schedules and conducts related store management meetings.
13. Works with Vice President of Retail and Vice President of Facilities in determining appropriate sites within the Region for new stores. Ensures assigned new stores are opened within the designated timeframe, staffed with top quality management and all staff members receive necessary training prior to opening with follow-up training if needed.
14. Researches and recommends locations where Service Centers should be operating, determines staffing needs for each operating Service Center within the Region, works with store management to ensure production standards are met and inventory is appropriately controlled. Monitors each operating Service Center for profitability and recommends a course of action if there are issues to address.
15. Supervises and manages employees as it relates to all projects or related work, establishes performance requirements, clarifies responsibilities of those supervised, conducts performance appraisals and plans for individual employee development.
16. Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
17. Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration, management, or other appropriate field.
• At least 7 years of related work experience in retail sales and/or management.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of retail merchandising, light industrial products, hydraulics and other Company products.
• High mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others.
• Must exhibit strong leadership and sound decision making qualities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of customers, Company personnel and others.
• Demonstrates Northern Tool + Equipment’s 12 Core Competencies.
