PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
 
To support all areas of product development projects by a visually inspecting, evaluation, operates units, gathers data, and supporting creation of prototype product designs. To participate in lab safety and 5S programs. This position will also be responsible for operation, construction and/or requisition of automated test stands as it pertains to specific projects as well as execution of test requests from the Engineering Department as directed by the Engineering Manager for Test and Development.
 
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 
 
  • Performs development and validation tests to qualify new components for product improvement, cost reduction, or compliance.  Including mechanical and electrical components.
  • Designs of experiment development and execution (DOE).
  • Builds, tests, and troubleshoots (Electrical circuits and mechanical systems) of prototype builds and validation builds.  
  • Supports the creation of prototype and development products.
  • Purchases and maintains equipment, components, and bench stock for Test and Development lab.
  • Verifies inventory, orders and stocks all spare components.
  • Provides technical support to production department as needed
  • Tests reliability (i.e. R90 C90).
  • Tests stand design, repair, troubleshooting, and operation.
  • Critical thinking around product requirements, validation, and root cause identification
  • Reports results in concise written forms (word, power point, excel, etc.)
  • Presents findings to peers as well as leadership
  • Keeps a safe and clean work environment, complies with OSHA requirements.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
 
 
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • A two-year technical degree, or associate’s degree in technical studies
  • At least 1 year of experience in product testing. Product development, or test lab operations.
  • Experience in product development.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Mechanically curious to understand product function
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of when to escalate problems or issues.
